This grant provides a unique, four-week immersive training opportunity for pathology residents at Ventana Medical Systems' Tucson, Arizona headquarters. The program focuses on the development of novel histopathology-based diagnostic assays, offering participants hands-on exposure to the latest techniques and innovations in translational diagnostics. Under the mentorship of Ventana’s senior director of pathology, trainees can customize their experience to explore areas such as R&D innovation, scientific and clinical affairs, digital pathology and imaging, companion diagnostics, platform and instrumentation development, and tissue sample management. The elective is designed to deepen understanding of how scientific discoveries are translated into validated diagnostic tools, and how pathologists can contribute to innovation and patient care in an industry environment.
