Description
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) administers the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) to fund projects that expand transportation options beyond driving. Supported work includes on- and off-road pedestrian and bicycle facilities, infrastructure that improves non-driver access to public transportation and mobility, community improvement activities, environmental mitigation, recreational trails, and safe routes to school projects.
Awarded projects illustrate the program’s range: shared-use paths connecting existing routes, reconstructed sidewalks, pedestrian links to commercial areas, riverfront trails, and streetscape improvements. ODOT’s Local Programs staff maintain TAP guidance and forms for local public agencies.
