Description
The Michigan Department of Transportation’s Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) supports projects that enhance Michigan’s intermodal transportation system, promote walkability, and improve quality of life. Examples include bike paths, bike racks for buses, streetscapes, and historic preservation of transportation facilities.
TAP is a competitive program listed among MDOT’s flexible federal highway funding programs. That flexibility allows some highway funds to be transferred to transit projects and vice versa, giving states and local communities choices about how to use those funds.
