Description
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) funds commute trip reduction programs through its Transportation Demand Management Grants. Local jurisdictions partner with employers, which develop and manage workplace commute programs based on locally adopted goals. The programs encourage workers to take transit, carpool, vanpool, walk, bicycle or telework instead of driving alone, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and helping the state’s busiest commute routes move efficiently.
The grants support programs at more than 1,000 worksites serving over 500,000 workers statewide. Funding comes from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act and the Multimodal Account.
