The AABB Foundation’s Travel Awards Program expands access to professional development opportunities that prepare future leaders in transfusion medicine and biotherapies. Awards support participation in the AABB Annual Meeting, where recipients access educational sessions, build professional networks, and gain experiences that support career growth and leadership development.
The program includes two opportunities. The AABB Foundation Travel Award supports qualified applicants who are not eligible for other Foundation travel funding. The Dennis J. Hlavinka Travel Award supports early-career biomedical engineers developing innovative solutions to advance patient and donor care. It honors a pioneering biomedical engineer whose work advanced blood safety and component collection, reflecting his commitment to innovation and mentorship.
