Travel Awards support Mississippi students and faculty through meeting travel, instrumentation training, and industry collaboration to strengthen research expertise, partnerships, and capacity in the state.

Description
The Mississippi Research Alliance (MRA), established in 2024 through NSF EPSCoR funding, offers Travel Awards to increase opportunities for collaboration and strengthen Mississippi’s research ecosystem. The program supports student participation in statewide meetings—including the MS IDeA/EPSCoR annual conference, Mississippi Academy of Science Meeting, and MRA research symposia—as well as regional meetings and national scientific conferences.
Researchers may also request student travel support for instrumentation training workshops at MRA shared facilities. Faculty travel support covers training at national laboratories or elite institutions and collaboration with industry. Training on new instrumentation acquisitions coming into Mississippi is also supported when it enriches expertise in the state. These activities contribute to MRA’s broader goal of building research capacity through strategic partnerships and investment in research and development.
