The Alpha-1 Foundation’s Travel Grants support two specific activities: travel to national or international scientific conferences or meetings to present alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT)-related abstracts or posters, and cross-training at an established Alpha-1 laboratory by an established Alpha-1 investigator. Cross-training may cover diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, research techniques, or specialized equipment and software applicable to AAT-related research.
Travel Grants are listed within the Foundation’s 2026–2027 In-Cycle Grants Award Program. The broader program supports meritorious research to improve the health of people with AAT deficiency and ultimately find a cure. The Foundation’s research mission includes Alpha-1-related lung and liver disease, advances in treatment and care, ethical, legal, and social issues affecting people with genetic conditions, and development of the Alpha-1 research workforce.
