    Description

The Research Society for Victorian Periodicals (RSVP) offers travel grants to help scholars without other sources of travel funding attend its annual conference and disseminate periodical research. The society aims to distribute awards widely while providing meaningful support to each recipient. Funding comes from a bequest by Eileen Curran, a pioneering researcher, longtime RSVP supporter, and Emerita Professor of English at Colby College.

The 2027 conference in Ottawa, Ontario, has the theme “Structures.” It welcomes proposals on any aspect of nineteenth-century British periodicals or newspapers, encouraging attention to their form, materiality, and genre rather than solely their content. Graduate student awards commemorate Barbara Quinn Schmidt and Josef Altholz. William Scheuerle Travel Grants support independent and retired scholars.
