Key Information: Applicants must hold full-time tenure-track or tenured appointments in U.S. mathematics departments with Ph.D.-granting programs.
The Simons Foundation’s Mathematics and Physical Sciences division runs this program to substantially increase collaborative contacts among accomplished, active mathematicians in the United States. It supports domestic and international scientific travel and visits by collaborators, with an emphasis on the likely impact on future research by recipients and their graduate students or postdoctoral fellows. All areas of mathematics, including statistics, are eligible when the departmental appointment requirements are met.
Support includes travel by the investigator, students and department members, scientific visitors’ travel and meals, and limited research resources. Departmental discretionary funds help strengthen the research atmosphere through seminars, colloquia, student visits and research infrastructure. Awards are funded by the Simons Foundation and Simons Foundation International and administered by the Simons Foundation.
