Description
The Carol and Tom R. DeMeester Traveling Fellowship, offered by the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT), promotes interaction and learning among Society members within the United States or Canada. Fellows spend 6 to 10 days at a university-affiliated or academic practice of their choosing, working with a sponsoring SSAT member at the host institution. The fellowship supports a short period of learning and professional exchange, with financial assistance for travel-related expenses.
The SSAT Education Committee oversees the fellowship. Its chairperson assists the selected fellow in choosing a host site and can provide an introduction when desirable or necessary. The fellow then works with the sponsoring member to arrange the visit.
