Description
The Stanley Medical Research Institute's Treatment Trial Grants are designed to advance the testing and evaluation of medications—especially generic and off-label agents—for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The program aims to address the limitations of current therapies by supporting rigorous clinical trials that may not be pursued by pharmaceutical companies due to lack of commercial incentive. SMRI is particularly interested in studies that can provide improved outcomes for patients who do not respond adequately to existing medications or who experience significant side effects.
At any given time, SMRI supports 50–60 treatment trials worldwide, focusing on innovative, cost-effective, and scientifically robust research proposals. While there is no longer an open call for proposals, SMRI will consider applications on a case-by-case basis. Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the Treatment Trials Administrator prior to preparing or submitting an application.
