Description
Tree Planting Incentives are offered by the Maryland Department of Agriculture through its Ecosystem Incentives Program. The incentive provides farmers and landowners with a bonus for each new tree planted as part of an approved conservation practice financed through the Maryland Agricultural Water Quality Cost-Share Program (MACS). The bonus supplements the regular cost-share assistance for the qualifying practice.
The incentive supports Maryland’s tree-planting goal to capture greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change. Supported practices include windbreak establishment, silvopasture, riparian forest buffers, hedgerow planting, and tree and shrub establishment.
