Description
The California Strategic Growth Council administers the Tribal Housing Pre-Development Fund to help California Native American Tribes and Tribally Designated Housing Entities prepare affordable housing projects for development and access other state-funded housing programs. The competitive fund provides grants and technical assistance for work shaped by Tribal needs, knowledge, and sovereignty.
Supported activities include community engagement, needs assessments, feasibility and environmental studies, infrastructure, site acquisition and preparation, and architectural, engineering, legal, and consulting services. Staff training and salaries associated with the work may also be funded. The program seeks projects that advance affordable housing and greenhouse gas reduction goals while supporting a diverse group of Tribal applicants across California.
