Description
The Jeannette Rankin Foundation’s Tribal Scholar Grant supports students attending Tribal Colleges across the United States. It provides unrestricted, nontuition funding directly to recipients pursuing technical or vocational education, a first associate’s degree, or a first bachelor’s degree. The program is dedicated to students who self-identify and present as women and demonstrate financial need.
The Foundation reviews applicants’ academic and professional goals, concrete plans for achieving those goals, and intentions to use their education to give back to their communities. The grant supports individual educational pursuits rather than a prescribed research project or field of study. It reflects the legacy of Jeannette Rankin, the first U.S. Congresswoman representing Montana and an advocate for racial and social justice.
