Description
The Truckee River Fund, administered by the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada and funded by Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) and its customers, supports projects that measurably protect or enhance water quality and water resources in the Truckee River and its watershed. It favors well-supported work that substantially benefits TMWA customers, especially projects addressing threats upstream of or near water treatment and hydroelectric plant intakes.
Priorities include preventing and controlling aquatic invasive species; reducing erosion, sediment, nutrients, and other pollutants; improving local stormwater conditions; reforestation and revegetation; rehabilitating tributary creeks and drainage courses; and watershed cleanup, stewardship, and education. Land or water rights acquisition is not a priority.
