Description
The TSF Research Award, administered by the Thoracic Surgery Foundation for Research and Education, provides initial support and recognition for original research by early-career cardiothoracic surgeons who have completed formal training. It supports direct project expenses for investigations important to the advancement of cardiothoracic surgery.
Preference is given to clinical- or laboratory-based investigations likely to generate data that help applicants secure subsequent funding. The program emphasizes originality, a clear and concise presentation of a logical project, and a high probability of successful completion. The TSF Research Committee considers research quality, expected impact, and the quality of the applicant and research environment. The highest-ranking applicant receives the STS Research Award designation through merit-based peer review.
