The Urban Communication Foundation’s Research Assistance Grants support innovative projects that advance urban communication research and initiatives. The program focuses on work that is small in scale, needs seed money, or is short term. UCF seeks work that contributes significantly to discourse around urban communication issues, provides new disciplinary insights, raises awareness of related sociopolitical, economic, and cultural concerns, or influences public policy.
The Foundation supports scholars, researchers, journalists, and other practitioners working across disciplines. Projects may involve research or creative activities, surveys, media production, and other approaches to understanding urban communication. Previous funded work has examined public art and social change, communication in public spaces, territorial stigmatization, gentrification, urban mobility, and public knowledge and political accountability in cities.
