The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) runs this grants programme through the Reimagining Cancer Research in Europe initiative, in partnership with European cancer organisations and the International Agency for Research on Cancer. It supports research on adopting and integrating existing evidence-based cancer prevention interventions into health system policies and practices across Europe.
The programme responds to the need for greater investment in prevention and stronger cross-European research collaboration to reduce Europe’s growing cancer burden. Its goals align with Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and Europe’s Mission on Cancer. The second funding round prioritised primary cancer prevention, while secondary prevention projects remained eligible. Funded work examines how interventions can be adapted to different settings, including school-based tobacco prevention, cervical cancer vaccination and screening, and implementation of screening quality assurance.
