Description
The Uintah Basin Revitalization Fund uses oil and gas severance tax revenue from federally held trust lands to create long-term benefits in the Uintah Basin. It supports agencies of Duchesne County, Uintah County and the Ute Indian Tribe affected by development of those oil and gas interests. The fund also aims to strengthen cooperation among the state, local governments and the tribe.
The fund primarily makes grants, although loans are authorized. It prioritizes capital projects, including subsidized and low-income housing, other one-time needs, and projects connected to the area where the oil and gas are produced. A five-member board directs the fund; the Utah Department of Workforce Services’ Housing and Community Development Division administers it.
