Led by the UK Metascience Unit, this five-day interactive sandpit brings together researchers across disciplines and sectors to develop novel projects using UKRI administrative data. The aim is to produce actionable evidence for decision makers in the research and development system, optimise research processes and practices, and support thought leadership and community building for metascience in the UK.
Projects may explore information collected through funding applications, review and decision processes, and the outcomes of funded research. Participants will define shared challenges and develop proposals collaboratively, supported by an independent facilitator, mentors and stakeholders. Specific research plans are not required before the event. Projects will pitch for funding on the final day, with recommendations made through real-time expert review. Attendance does not guarantee funding.
