    Description

Full ADOPT supports collaborative, farmer-led on-farm trials and experiments that test innovative practical solutions to major on-farm or immediate post-farmgate challenges. Funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and delivered with Innovate UK, it forms part of the Farming Innovation Programme. ADOPT stands for Accelerating Development of Practices and Technologies.

Projects must test ideas or solutions that are new or not yet widely used in agriculture, horticulture or agro-forestry. They must have potential to significantly improve productivity, resilience, or sustainability and progression towards net zero farming. Demonstrating benefits to other English farmers, growers and foresters, and sharing results during and after the project, are central requirements. The programme promotes peer-to-peer learning, practical adoption and stronger innovation skills across the farming sector.
