Description
UK Research and Innovation’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) is reviewing its existing physical sciences national research facility (NRF) portfolio. The opportunity supports nationally significant infrastructure providing open, user-focused access to specialised equipment and technical expertise beyond the capabilities of individual institutions. Funding supports facility operations, international subscriptions and upgrades to existing equipment, rather than research effort.
The refresh aims to maintain a resilient, strategically aligned portfolio responsive to scientific, industrial and societal needs within a constrained financial landscape. Investment decisions will consider evidenced user demand, national priorities, facility impact and available funding. Facilities are expected to enable collaborative research across disciplines, sectors and user communities, with strong governance and leadership in data management, responsible innovation, accessibility, trusted research, and environmental and financial sustainability.
