    Description

Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, runs this competition with the Department of Health and Social Care. It supports the technical development and commercial readiness of sustainable medicines manufacturing technologies through industrial research and experimental development. Projects must focus on at least one of three pillars: green chemistry, circularity, or productivity and resource efficiency, while addressing both regulations and measurements, standards and data.

The programme seeks significant, measurable improvements in productivity, waste, emissions, energy use or resource efficiency. Its goals include developing disruptive manufacturing technologies, enabling scalable adoption, attracting investment to UK medicines manufacturing, and strengthening collaboration between academia, industry and government. Proposals must explain their commercialisation plans and how funding will advance both technology and commercial readiness towards deployment.
