Description
This opportunity funds researchers to translate bioscience research, previously supported by BBSRC, into practical innovations such as products, services, or solutions that deliver economic, societal, or environmental benefits—primarily within the UK. The scheme is designed to de-risk innovative ideas and support later-stage projects with significant technical milestones, aiming for clear pathways to real-world use, including commercialisation or broader adoption. Industry and user engagement is strongly encouraged, and award-holders may access additional support for skills development, networking, and impact maximisation.
Projects must demonstrate a sound understanding of market needs and articulate clear routes to impact, with robust project planning and intellectual property management. The initiative does not fund new or basic research, projects without a direct link to BBSRC funding, or activities primarily benefitting ODA-eligible countries.
