Description
UKRI Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAAs) provide strategic, institutional-level funding through AHRC, EPSRC, MRC and STFC. Research organisations manage their own portfolios and decide which activities to support, aligning investment with institutional strategies and emerging opportunities. The accounts add value to existing funding by helping translate curiosity-driven research into benefits for society, the economy and the environment.
Supported activities include proof of concept, early commercialisation, market validation, and engagement with policy, business and third-sector users. The programme also supports strategic partnerships, knowledge exchange, training and culture change that build impact skills and capability. Flexible approaches, reasonable risk-taking, fast failure and learning are encouraged. Institutions should strengthen relationships with non-academic partners and demonstrate how their approach builds on existing research strengths while addressing untapped potential.
