This opportunity funds translational research projects led by academic researchers to develop and test innovative therapeutics, medical devices, diagnostics, and other health interventions. The scheme is designed to move concepts from prototype or pre-clinical stages through to early-phase (up to phase 2a) clinical studies, with the aim of de-risking further development and enabling onward investment. Projects may address any significant health need and can also include the development of research tools that accelerate intervention development. The emphasis is on robust planning, innovation management, and responsible research practices.
