Description
Western Michigan University’s Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship Excellence Award supports hands-on projects undertaken by undergraduate students with faculty or staff mentors on campus. Administered through the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI), the program recognizes undergraduate scholarship’s contribution to student education and the university’s discovery mission. Students gain a mentored research or creative experience while working on projects related to their mentors’ expertise.
The award also gives mentors who are externally funded or seeking external support opportunities to involve undergraduates in their work. Supported projects span scientific, engineering, humanities, and creative disciplines, including carbon-cycle research, water treatment, semiconductor characterization, river restoration, drone development, creative writing, comparative religion, and dance history.
