Description
The South Carolina Space Grant Consortium’s Undergraduate Student Research Award supports undergraduate students conducting NASA-related research under a faculty mentor during the academic year or summer. The program aims to increase the number of highly trained scientists and engineers while strengthening students’ engagement with space science and aerospace-related work. Supported interests include basic sciences, science education, astronomy, planetary science, environmental studies, and engineering.
Research proposals must demonstrate relevance to NASA’s mission. The Consortium Director and Space Grant Campus Directors select awardees based on their academic qualifications, research plans, faculty sponsorship, and interests in space science or aerospace-related fields. Students communicate their findings through a final report and a research symposium or conference presentation, and participate in tracking of their progress through early employment.
