Description
The Torrey Botanical Society Undergraduate Student Research Fellowship supports undergraduate research in plant science through three annual awards. Funding supports field work, laboratory work, or a combination of both. The fellowship is part of the Society’s annual awards program for botanical research and training.
Supported projects span plant reproduction, biodiversity, conservation, species distributions, plant chemistry, and fungal systematics. Past recipients have investigated pollen transfer, weather-induced flower closure, lichen diversity, endangered pitcher plant population genomics, and stress tolerance in endangered and invasive plants. Research settings have included coastal mangrove forests, salt marshes, forests, and Colombian páramos, illustrating the range of botanical topics and habitats supported.
