Description
The Society for Freshwater Science (SFS) Undergraduate Student Travel Awards support students attending and presenting their work at the society’s Annual Meeting. Sponsored by the SFS Student Resources Committee (SRC), the program provides travel assistance and registration fee waivers rather than funding a separate research project. The 2027 Annual Meeting takes place in Omaha, Nebraska, from May 23–27, 2027.
The SRC funds the awards through its annual fundraising activities and aims to support six students each year. The program serves current undergraduate student members and qualifying recent graduates, with two awards reserved for students from minority-serving institutions and primarily undergraduate institutions. Applicants submit a research proposal evaluated for scientific content, broader significance, and clarity of presentation.
