Description
MassDevelopment’s Underutilized Properties Program supports projects that transform underutilized, abandoned, or vacant properties into productive spaces. It is part of the Commonwealth’s Community One Stop for Growth, which provides a single application portal and collaborative review process for state community development grant programs.
The program seeks public benefits such as job creation, innovation, housing production, accessibility improvements, and local economic development. It also supports eliminating blight, conserving natural resources through targeted rehabilitation, and bringing vacant or underused properties back into use. Applicants do not need to satisfy every public-purpose criterion; projects are reviewed on the totality of their circumstances.
