The Unlocking Futures Fund is run by The Physiological Society to help postdoctoral researchers overcome barriers, progress in their research careers, and realise their potential as future leaders of physiology. Established in memory of Professor Hisako Ikeda-Wolstencroft, a Society member and world leader in vision research, the fund began with a founding donation from her family.
The fund provides practical support for costs that cannot be met from existing resources, including research consumables, professional registration, and other fully justified sundries. Applicants must demonstrate how the support will enhance their commitment to physiology and benefit the wider community of physiologists. Past awards have supported pilot experiments, specialist equipment, physiological measurements, research placements, and workshop attendance across a broad range of physiology research.
