Only organizations that have never previously received a Campbell Foundation grant are eligible to apply.

--- ## Description The Campbell Foundation’s Unsolicited Grants Program supports U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) public charitable organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, and fiscally sponsored projects with general support grants. The Foundation prioritizes organizations with at least five years of operation, annual budgets between $1 million and $12 million, and leadership reflecting the communities they serve—especially those focused on racial equity and serving Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color. Program areas of interest include agriculture, clean and safe drinking water, community engagement, water management, and watershed advocacy. While proposals from any geographic area are considered, there is special interest in select counties in California, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. The program does not fund unsolicited proposals in areas such as medical research, animal rescue, disease prevention, ecosystem restoration, or individual support. --- ## Due Dates - September 30, 2025: Cycle 2 (2025) full proposal submission deadline (5:00 PM Pacific Time) - January 23, 2026: Cycle 1 (2026) full proposal submission deadline (5:00 PM Pacific Time) No late submissions or extensions are allowed. --- ## Funding Amount - Maximum request: $25,000 per unsolicited grant - Typical awards range from $10,000 to $25,000 - Funds must be expended within 12 months of receipt - In 2025, 92 grants were awarded, with nearly half at the maximum amount --- ## Eligibility - Must be a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) public charitable organization, educational institution (170(b)(1)(A)(ii)), government agency (170(c)(1)), or fiscally sponsored project - Organization must not have previously received a Campbell Foundation grant - Recommended: At least five years of operation, annual budget between $1 million and $12 million, five or more funders of $5,000+ each, and at least five board members - Priority for organizations with programming focused on racial equity and/or serving Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color, and with leadership reflecting the communities served - Eligible program areas: Agriculture, Clean and Safe Drinking Water, Community Engagement, Water Management, Watershed Advocacy - Special interest in projects in: - California (Fresno, Kern, Kings, San Francisco, Tulare) - Maryland (Dorchester, Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset) - Pennsylvania (Lancaster, York) - Not eligible: Organizations in academic/medical research, animal rescue/rehabilitation, disease research/prevention, ecosystem restoration, films, hospitals, individuals, marine protected areas (outside CA), non-community-based fisheries/ocean management, plastic pollution, or single species management/conservation --- ## Application Process 1. Submit a complete proposal through the Foundation’s grants management system before the deadline. 5. Only one proposal per organization per cycle is allowed. 6. If declined, a two-year waiting period is required before reapplying. 7.
