--- ## Description The Campbell Foundation’s Grants Program offers unsolicited grants to nonprofit organizations with a strong track record of serving diverse populations and advancing racial equity. The program is open to organizations across the United States and internationally, with special interest in select counties in California, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Priorities include agriculture, access to clean and safe drinking water, community engagement, water management, and watershed advocacy. The Foundation is particularly interested in organizations whose leadership reflects the communities they serve and that seek to dismantle systemic barriers. Only general support proposals are accepted in this cycle. --- ## Due Dates - January 23, 2026: Proposal submission deadline — Cycle 1 2026 (full application due by 5 pm Pacific Time) - July 31, 2026: Proposal submission deadline — Cycle 2 2026 (full application due by 5 pm Pacific Time) No exceptions or extensions are granted for late submissions. --- ## Funding Amount - Maximum request: **$25,000** per unsolicited grant. - Most awards are between $10,000 and $25,000. - Funds are expected to be expended within 12 months of receipt. - Awarded amount may differ from the requested amount, depending on review factors. --- ## Eligibility Eligible applicants must: - Be a **US-registered 501(c)(3) public charitable organization**, an educational institution (170(b)(1)(A)(ii)), a government agency (170(c)(1)), or a **fiscally sponsored project**. - **Never have received a Campbell Foundation grant**. - Have operated for **five or more years**. - Have an **annual operating budget between $1 million and $12 million**. - Have at least **five funders** (each providing $5,000 or more) and at least **five board members**. - Align with one or more of the following program areas: - [Agriculture](https://www.campbellfoundation.org/programs/agriculture/) - [Clean, Safe Drinking Water](https://www.campbellfoundation.org/programs/access-to-clean-safe-drinking-water/) - [Community Engagement](https://www.campbellfoundation.org/programs/community-engagement/) - [Water Management](https://www.campbellfoundation.org/programs/water-management/) - [Watershed Advocacy](https://www.campbellfoundation.org/programs/watershed-advocacy/) - Emphasize programming focused on **racial equity** and/or Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color. - Have leadership that reflects the communities served. **Geographic focus:** Open globally, but special interest in: - California (Fresno, Kern, Kings, San Francisco, Tulare Counties) - Maryland (Dorchester, Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset Counties) - Pennsylvania (Lancaster and York Counties) **Ineligible proposals** (unsolicited grants will NOT be considered for): - Academic or medical research - Alcohol and drug recovery programming - Animal rescue and rehabilitation - Disease research and prevention - Ecosystem restoration - Films - Hospitals - Individuals - Marine protected areas outside California - Non-community-based fisheries and ocean management - Plastic pollution - Single species management or conservation --- ## Application Process 1. **Check eligibility:** - Complete the [eligibility checklist](https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/unsoleligibilitychecklist). 2. **Prescreen (optional but recommended):** - Use the [Prescreen Tool](https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8TZ32SV) to gauge alignment with program priorities. 3. **Register in grants management system:** - Confirm your organization or fiscal sponsor is registered; [search here](https://www.campbellfoundation.org/registered-organizations/). 4. **Prepare your proposal:** - Download and review the [proposal template](https://campbellfoundation.box.com/shared/static/b9tycl70b0uau101f9r12qrvzzf70u9d.docx). - Only **one proposal per cycle** is allowed. - Required attachments: List of top ten funders, board member list (fiscally sponsored projects may provide an advisory committee instead). 5. **Submit online:** - Full proposals must be submitted through the Foundation’s grants management portal by the deadline. 6. **No letters of inquiry (LOIs) or hard copies** are accepted. **Note:** If declined, organizations must wait two years before reapplying. --- ## Additional Information - Only organizations that have **never** received a Campbell Foundation grant are eligible to apply. - Proposals are for **general support** only;
