Description
The Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) is a component of FEMA’s Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP), administered in Michigan by the Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD). It supports high-threat, high-density urban areas in building, sustaining, and delivering capabilities to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism.
Supported preparedness work includes planning, organization, equipment purchases, training, and exercises across core capabilities and mission areas. UASI directs these activities toward regional terrorism-related needs. The program contributes to implementation of the National Preparedness System and the National Preparedness Goal of a secure and resilient nation.
