    Description

This Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) from the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Soldier Center seeks proposals for basic and applied research to advance state-of-the-art technologies relevant to soldier systems. The BAA covers a broad range of scientific and technical areas, aiming to eliminate current technology barriers and increase knowledge and understanding in fields vital to soldier effectiveness and survivability. The BAA is not focused on specific systems or hardware solutions, but rather on exploratory research and technology development.

    Major topic areas include:

    • Combat Feeding & Equipment: Ration development, field feeding systems.
    • Soldier Protection & Survivability: Headborne protection, modular armor, chemical/biological protection, nanotechnology, countersurveillance, integrated sound/light/blast management, body-worn interactive materials, modular personal protection equipment.
    • Textile Technologies: Multi-functional materials.
    • Modeling & Simulation: Soldier and small unit operational effectiveness, survivability, technology assessment, simulation tools.
    • Human Performance & Biomechanics: Body-worn systems, hand-held devices, sensors, biomechanics, anthropometry, power sources, human factors, performance optimization, biotechnology.
    • Expeditionary Maneuver Support: Energy efficiency, EMI/EMP protection, battlefield mobility, environmental protection, integration of multiple technologies.
    • Aerial Delivery: Advanced airdrop systems for personnel and cargo.
    • Simulation & Training Technology: Medical simulation, AI-based battlefield visualization, cyberspace warfare training, adaptive instructional systems.
