    Description

The Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) and Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) jointly sponsor this three-year basic research program within the US Air Force–Taiwan Nanoscience Program. It pairs US and Taiwan investigators to advance materials and nanostructures research, leverage complementary expertise, and strengthen investigator-level scientific collaboration.

Research concentrations are AI-driven materials discovery; materials and nanostructures for energy-efficient electronic, photonic, and quantum information technologies; and quantum geometry in solids. The program emphasizes fundamental materials mechanisms, predictive and experimentally testable approaches, and scientific breakthroughs enabled by bilateral collaboration. Expected outcomes include publications in the open literature and research that complements basic and applied efforts at AFRL and NSTC.
