The Utah Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DHHS/DSPD), administers this pilot to purchase or reimburse approved assistive technology and adaptive equipment. The technology must help a person with disabilities work in, or pursue, competitive integrated employment while reducing their dependence on employment services. Individuals receiving DSPD services or on its waiting list may apply, as may their caregivers or advocates.
Supported technology includes communication devices, tablets, applications, accessible chairs, and replacements for old or outdated equipment. The pre-approved list also covers home access, mobility, computer access, sensory access, time management, and workplace equipment. The pilot aims to measure reductions in employment-support hours and understand how technology affects participants’ employment.
