Description
The Utah Pollinator Habitat Program, administered by the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF), supports establishing and enhancing pollinator habitat on public and private land throughout Utah. It provides regionally selected native plants and seeds to improve pollen and nectar resources, expand existing habitat, and strengthen connections between habitats. Particular emphasis is placed on native pollinators and bee populations, with priority areas including watersheds and valuable habitat corridors.
Created as a legislative pilot in 2021 and made permanent in 2025, the program responds to pollinator declines associated with habitat loss, pesticide use, and changing climate. Its goals also include increasing access to native seeds and encouraging public awareness and involvement. UDAF partners with local nurseries to grow native species that can be difficult to source elsewhere.
