Description
The Vagelos Institute for Biomedical Research Education Physician-Scientist Programs and the Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research jointly offer this institutionally funded career development award. It supports early-career physician-scientists across biomedical investigation, including clinical, translational, population-based, epidemiologic, patient-oriented, preclinical, and basic biomedical research.
Scholars combine mentored research with protected time, multidisciplinary mentorship, grantsmanship support, and individualized didactic training. Training plans reflect each scholar’s scientific focus, prior preparation, and career goals, addressing competency gaps without unnecessarily repeating coursework. Supported through the Irving Institute’s TRANSFORM educational resource, the program aims to accelerate progression toward independent, sustained research careers and strengthen interdisciplinary research leadership.
