    Description

The New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) Venture Capital Program supports the growth of New Mexico’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by investing in venture capital and private equity funds that, in turn, finance startups and early-stage businesses. Established by state legislation in 2022 and also managing federal State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) funds, the program aims to create jobs, diversify the economy, and increase access to capital for underserved communities across New Mexico. The program does not provide direct funding to businesses; instead, it invests in funds with a mandate to support New Mexico-based companies or projects that align with the state's economic development priorities.
