The Vascular & Endovascular Surgery Society (VESS) Resident Research Award in Basic Translational Research helps residents in training initiate research during protected academic development time. The program supports basic and translational projects intended to build future academic potential, lead toward extramural research funding, and advance a career as a surgeon scientist.
The award pairs a proposed research project with an academic development plan and involvement from a VESS Active Member as a dedicated research mentor, sponsor, or collaborative investigator. Funding supports direct research costs and limited travel to present findings at a scientific meeting. Recipients report their findings, use of funds, dissemination plans, and next research steps to the VESS Grants & Scholarships Committee and present their report at the society’s Annual Winter Meeting.
