Description
The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) provides Retraining Grants to recently unemployed or underemployed veterans, and veterans who have received notice of termination, while they prepare for new employment. Eligible training includes courses at Wisconsin technical colleges, qualifying private occupational or trade schools, and structured on-the-job training (OJT). The training must reasonably be expected to lead to employment.
WDVA bases each grant on the applicant’s financial need and treats the grant as a payer of last resort for training funds. For OJT, the benefit is paid to the employer to offset wages during a specified training period.
