Description
The South Carolina Attorney General’s Department of Crime Victim Assistance Grants (DCVAG) administers federal VOCA subawards to provide, improve, and expand direct services for victims of violent crime. The program seeks to meet victims’ emotional, psychological, and physical needs, stabilize their lives, help them participate in the criminal justice system, and restore safety and security.
Supported work can include advocacy, counseling, shelter, forensic interviews, forensic nurse examinations, and emergency assistance. VOCA prioritizes services for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, and previously underserved victims of violent crime. Funds cannot be used to investigate crimes or collect evidence to further prosecutions.
