Description
The Office of Grants and Research (OGR) administers Massachusetts’ STOP—Services, Training, Officers, and Prosecutors—Violence Against Women Act funding from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women. The program supports specialized projects that protect victims, strengthen services, improve access to justice, and hold offenders accountable.
Funding supports victim services and legal assistance, specialized criminal justice responses, professional training, and coordinated partnerships. Massachusetts uses 12 federal purpose areas, including services for underserved populations, tribal communities, older and disabled victims, victims in correctional settings, and people facing barriers related to sexual orientation or gender identity. Services must be accessible, inclusive, and culturally responsive. Programs may focus on specific age groups or victimization types rather than serving every age group.
