Description
The Virginia Brownfields Restoration and Economic Redevelopment Assistance Fund (VBAF) helps local governments address environmental conditions and other barriers to reusing underutilized properties. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) administers the fund and its awards in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), which provides technical expertise.
VBAF supports site assessment, redevelopment planning, and remediation that can position brownfields for new economic development opportunities. It targets projects or phases of work that can generate private investment and jobs in the immediate future, including industrial, commercial, tourism, and related uses.
