The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), Office of Adult Education, will support a single applicant to pilot a statewide Wait List Agency within the Virginia Student Portal. The grantee will manage the portal’s wait list and student application dispatch process using LACES, the state’s management information system. The pilot aims to accelerate prospective students’ connections to meaningful learning opportunities and streamline referrals from partner organizations.
The grant responds to Governor’s Executive Order 20, Keeping Virginia Covered, which calls for removing barriers to economic mobility, workforce development, and employment for adults facing loss of SNAP or Medicaid benefits. Funding will build capacity for an anticipated increase in adults seeking to fulfill work requirements through adult education and upskilling.
