    Description

The Virginia Department of Social Services supports AmeriCorps State planning and operational grants through Serve Virginia, which coordinates the portfolio across the Commonwealth. Planning grants help organizations develop program structures, partnerships, and evidence-based service activities so they are better prepared to compete for operational funding. Operational programs recruit and deploy AmeriCorps members to provide direct service addressing community needs.

The opportunity also supports participation in Virginia’s Youth Mental Health Corps, with proposed member service and training aligned to Youth-Nex’s Portrait of a Thriving Youth framework. AmeriCorps priorities include disaster services, education, healthy futures, economic opportunity, environmental stewardship, and support for veterans and military families. Programs need not fit within one of these priority areas.
