Description
Virginia Humanities’ Public Humanities Fellowships give writers, independent scholars, community historians, and college and university faculty members time to develop research and cultural work for wider audiences. Projects must be relevant to communities within Virginia and can connect their experiences to regional, national, and global contexts.
The program aims to help Virginians better understand the state, its place in the world, and one another. Virginia Humanities particularly values creative, meaningful public engagement and work on humanities subjects such as history, literature, religion, and community stories. Fellows receive access to the University of Virginia library system and the Library of Virginia’s archives, as well as opportunities to exchange ideas with other fellows.
