Summary: Supports projects that improve Virginia’s environment through water protection, land conservation, environmental education, and responses to emerging concerns.
Key Information: Applicants may apply no more than once a year without VEE’s prior approval.
Description
The Virginia Environmental Endowment (VEE) funds projects that make a lasting difference to Virginia’s environment. Its Virginia Program prioritizes improvements to local rivers and water quality, restoration of the Chesapeake Bay, land conservation and sustainable land use, environmental literacy and public awareness, and climate adaptation and other emerging issues. VEE looks for tangible results, including on-the-ground improvements or policy changes.
Priorities include agricultural stewardship, stormwater improvements, protection of riparian buffers and headwater streams, experiential learning, coastal adaptation, water supply planning, and invasive species mitigation. VEE encourages collaboration and collective impact, and favors work with regional or statewide significance, a demonstrated track record, and the potential to draw continued support.
