Description
Philanthropic Ventures Foundation’s Visiting Artist Grants bring artists and their expertise into TK–12 classrooms at low-income public schools in the Bay Area. Grants support projects that complement teachers’ lesson plans, paying for the visiting artist’s time and the materials needed for classroom instruction. The program emphasizes visual and material artists, including painters, sculptors, wood carvers, and weavers, as well as art historians.
The program aims to enrich classroom learning through hands-on creative experiences, particularly for students with limited access to arts education. Visiting practitioners help students explore creative expression while introducing teachers to materials and techniques they can use in future lessons. Teachers at the same grade level are encouraged to apply together to maximize the grant’s resources.
